Bicycling Tours in the North Georgia Mountains

When the Cherokee Indians called this area "the Land of Enchantment" they weren't just whistling Dixie...or maybe they were.

The Blue Ridge Mountain range in Rabun County, Georgia is a prized spot for both mountain bike and road cyclists.  Some of the world's best mountain bike trails are around here.  For road cyclists our little trafficked back country mountain roads take you around idyllic lakes, waterfalls, lush pastures and green forests.  All seasons have their charms.  Early spring awakens your senses with blooming mountain laurel, rhododendrons and wild azaleas.  Days are warm.  Nights are cool.  Summer goes green, many shades and hues of green gone wild.  Refresh yourselves in the cool water of our lakes and waterfalls.  Fall - brace yourself for color every which way.  Dazzling best describes fall color in the mountains.  The weather is perfect for cycling.  Crisp clean air will clear your airways of toxins.  Breathe deeply.  It'll make you happy.

Your start point and headquarters for mountain and road cycling is the Historic Lake Rabun Hotel in Lakemont, Georgia.  It is located on a rise overlooking one of Georgia's prettiest lakes, Lake Rabun, and across from the marina known as Hall's Boat House.  National Geographic Traveler Magazine named it to ther Top Stay List 2009 - the only hotel in Georgia to make the list.  The hotel is cozy, romantic and hemlocks.  It's an ideal setting for those who feel most comfortable in a nature oriented setting.  Some have described it as rustic elegance.  The hotel features an award winning restaurant led by James Beard Best Chef Southeast, Louis Osteen, one of the most acclaimed chefs of the south.  Your biking package will include full gourmet breakfasts to start your days, boxed lunches for your day trips, and multi-course dinners with recommended wines from our wine cellar (wine is  separate charge and is optional),

Your day trips from the Lake Rabun Hotel are self-guided, customized tours designed to meet your needs.  Travel at your own pace.  Stop whenever you want.  You don't have to keep up with anyone else.  Experience the views, shop in local quaint shops, browse through art galleries, take a dip in a lake or stand under a waterfall.  Trips are tailor made to suit you - long or short, the number of miles that fits your comfort level from beginning to advanced.  Tour maps are provided on arrival as well as a briefing before the start of your trip.  Secure storage is provided for your bicycle.  For those wishing to fly into Atlanta, you my ship your bicycle to an affiliated local bicycle shop for assembly so it's ready for pick up when you arrive.  They will also ship it back home for you.
