Lake Rabun Hotel

About Our Historic Hotel

Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant celebrated its 100th birthday in 2022. It’s the last surviving mountain lodge on a lake in Georgia. Because it has stayed true to the look and the feeling of another time, it’s been called both a regional and a national treasure. For decades generations have enjoyed the beauty of the lake and mountains. Carefully restored by preservationists in 2008 to maintain its ancestral charm, it features gardens of native plants, rock pillars and walkways, locust log decks, and balconies with views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains.

A Hotel with Enchanting Views in Every Direction

Beautifully set within the trees, there are many decks and sitting areas to enjoy the views - a black locust log balcony overlooking a small waterfall and koi pond is a delightful spot to enjoy a first cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. It’s located right outside the Andreae Room and the Lake Rabun Room, but is available to all of our guests.

All rooms have access to the Tree Top Deck which sits high among the pines and hemlocks with tree-top views and peaceful spots to enjoy a picnic, read a book or just “be” in nature.

The relaxed atmosphere allows guests to do as much or as little as they like. There’s a baby grand piano that talented guests are encouraged to play. There are board games, a cozy bar, and fine dining.

Most appealing, however, is the opportunity to be immersed in nature without the intrusion of phones and TVs. These you won’t find in the rooms. Both the parlor and bar are available for those who wish to watch TV and wireless internet is available throughout the hotel.

For guests at our Lakemont hotel, the wide hallways upstairs hold a complimentary tableau of fresh cookies and beverages to enjoy. Guests enjoy meeting and getting to know one another over a freshly brewed cup of coffee or glass of wine. Frequently new friendships bloom here.

The design of the hotel has the woodsy feeling of an old mountain lodge. Colorful oriental rugs and local fine art throughout the hotel and restaurant give the place a feeling of old world charm and elegance which garnered it a coveted spot on National Geographic Traveler’s Annual Top Stay List of hotels in the US, Canada, Caribbean, and Mexico. It has also consistently earned a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for both lodging and dining from 2011 through today.
