Rabun County, Georgia’s Waterfall Capital

This summer brought exciting recognition to our region, as the Georgia State Legislature officially proclaimed Rabun County the “Waterfall Capital of Georgia.”

With over 100 stunning waterfalls scattered across our scenic landscape, Rabun County surpasses every other county in the state when it comes to these natural treasures.

Centrally located in the heart of this waterfall haven, the Lake Rabun Hotel serves as the perfect base for exploring some of the area’s most beautiful and accessible falls.

Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly hike, a peaceful ride around the lake, or a dramatic view from the rim of a gorge, we’re surrounded by unforgettable options.

Our staff is always happy to help you choose the best trail for your day and ability level—just ask!

Here are just a few guest favorites located minutes from our doors:

Minnehaha Falls:

Located less than 15 minutes from the Lake Rabun Hotel, the Minnehaha Trail is a gentle .4-mile hike that follows Fall Branch to the base of Minnehaha Falls.

This 100-foot-high cascade is both serene and stunning, and the short, easy trail makes it ideal for hikers of all ages.

Getting there is half the fun, too—the drive around Lake Rabun is a scenic journey in itself.

Angel Falls:

Just up the road from the Lake Rabun Hotel, the Angel Falls Trail offers a two-for-one waterfall experience.

A moderate and family-friendly hike (under 2 miles round trip) takes you through a lush creek valley to Panther Falls and then Angel Falls, two gorgeous waterfalls that feed into Lake Rabun.

It’s a rewarding adventure, whether you’re hiking with young ones or enjoying a peaceful solo trek.

Tallulah Gorge:

A true showstopper, Tallulah Gorge is a natural marvel not to be missed.

Spanning two miles and plunging nearly 1,000 feet deep, it’s considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia.

With multiple waterfalls thundering through the gorge, it’s a breathtaking destination whether you hike to the gorge floor or simply enjoy the panoramic views from the rim.

Just a short drive from the hotel, Tallulah Gorge offers something for every type of explorer.

Whether you’re seeking a peaceful connection with nature or an active day of exploration, the waterfalls of Rabun County are calling. Come experience why our region has earned its well-deserved title—and let the Lake Rabun Hotel be your serene home base for the adventure.
